Morocco’s capital, Rabat, is the perfect choice for a short sojourn and a less touristy stop during your tour in Morocco. The clean central beach, the intact and evocative Udaya kasbah, and the walled medina are a relief from the daily hustle and bustle of cities like Fez and Casablanca.
Rabat’s most prominent landmark is the Hassan tower, which is towering at 44m above the Bou Regreg estuary and surrounded by well-tended gardens. The Hassan tower and the shattered pillars surrounding it are the remnants of an unfinished grand mosque that was destroyed by an earthquake in 1775.
